Connecting with the Earth

July 24, 2016

Went to Thornhaven Winery today to scout out the views for outdoor yoga with Main St. Fitness & Yoga next Saturday. It was quiet, warm, sunny and the view was vast. I am so excited to lead a class outdoors where we can connect with the earth in a tangible way. I am not a full sun lover, which means lots of sunscreen and some cold water will be coming with me.

When I was thinking of leading an outdoor class I felt hesitation. Fear came up around it being hot and exposed which would lead me to be sweaty and red faced. Then, when I brought my attention inwards, I realized that my students will be experiencing the same sensations. I now feel I want to ensure that I lead a gentle, focused and cooling class (or warming depending on this tricky Okanagan summer weather) that will honour myself as well as my students.

I am looking forward to teaching outside in just under a weeks time. What a beautiful way to start your long weekend. I hope you will join me!

Class will run Saturday, July 30th from 9-10am at Thornhaven Estate Winery, 6816 Andrew Ave in Summerland. Main St. Fitness & Yoga monthly and flex passes will be accepted. Pre-register at the studio (10120 Main St) and pay the regular drop-in of $13 plus tax, or pay $15 day of on site.

Feeling that mats won't be necessary, let's have fun playing in the grass, connecting to the earth, and feeling our bodies move compassionately in nature.
